Why Annual Maintenance?
Annual Maintenance is included with GEO5 Subscription Annual (software renting) and is an optional benefit for GEO5 Perpetual License (software purchase) to keep your software up to date.
Subscribe to Annual Maintenance and never worry about having to pay for an upgrade again. As compared to occasional upgrades, the annual maintenance subscription is more affordable and happens in real time. Check out the list of GEO5 editions and updates.
How does Annual Maintenance work?
Effective for a year since your last annual maintenance is purchased, the following is included:
- Licensing and installation support
- Engineering support
- Real-time updates
- New software edition commonly released in November
- Leniency for lost licensing key for US and Canada clients - perpetual license only.
The annual maintenance subscription for existing GEO5 users may not change in the event of GEO5 programs' price updates or modifications until the GEO5 users modify their GEO5 portfolio.
What happens if you discontinue your Annual Maintenance?
Your software edition with the Perpetual License will continue to work; however, software updates and new edition released after your maintenance expires will no longer be available.
Licensing and installation support is still provided, but engineering support is only provided at a consulting fee.
Lapsed maintenance can be reactivated by paying the upgrade based on the difference between the edition owned by a user and the latest edition for the price as explained below, plus the maintenance fee for the coming year.
How much does Annual Maintenance cost?
One year of annual maintenance is approximately 15% of the perpetual license price. Annual maintenance is purchased as a separate item, in 12-month increments. This is more frugal as compared to version upgrade which is 25% of the license price per edition.
Here is how it works.
Annual Maintenance for a software worth $1,000, for two years:
$1,000 x 0.15 (15%) x 2 (years) = $300
Real-time updates, new versions, engineering support included. The annual maintenance is paid on year by year basis.
Upgrade (new version) for a software worth $1,000, lagging two editions behind:
$1,000 x 0.20 (25%) x 2 (editions) = $500
An upgrade can be ordered at any time.
Is Annual Maintenance optional?
Yes, maintenance is optional and applies to perpetual license only.
Without maintenance, upgrading a perpetual license to the current release is done by paying the upgrade fees, 25% of the license price, per edition lagging.
New editions of GEO5 are commonly released in November. Each edition is maintained for 3 years after its release, and at the end of third year the edition is retired and no longer supported.
